Pastor Mike Hanscom

Village Light Project Church Planting Institute
Co-Director of VLP National Church Planting

Pastor Mike Hanscom and his wife Sandy were both saved in their home in West Springfield, New Hampshire on a Thursday night in October of 1981.  He and his wife were both baptized at Sunshine Baptist Church in Newport, NH where they served the Lord until 1987.

During those years of serving as a layman, the Lord began to place a desire in Brother Mike’s heart to serve the Lord in full time ministry.  In June of 1987 Mike and Sandy left their jobs, sold their home, and moved to Jacksonville, Florida where Mike attended Trinity Baptist College to receive his training for the ministry.

Brother Mike is a 1989 graduate of Trinity Baptist College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Church Ministries.  Shortly after graduating he was called to serve as Youth Pastor at the East Side Baptist Church in Thomasville, Georgia.  He served in that capacity until 1992 when Mike and Sandy moved back to New Hampshire where he served as Associate and Youth Pastor at Sunshine Baptist Church in Newport for seven years.  The church called Brother Mike as their Senior Pastor in 1999 until January 2007.  While pastoring, Mike earned his Master of Divinity from Luther Rice University of Lithonia, GA.

Brother Mike has a God given desire to serve with Global Partnership Ministries in a full time capacity as part of Village Light Ministries, and he is currently working toward that goal.  Presently, he is serving as Associate Pastor at East Side Baptist Church in Thomasville, GA.

Pastor Hanscom is an integral Village Light Project team member lending his teaching skills and practical experience as a pastor to training and mentoring the national pastor.  His ministry encompasses lecturing in the Village Light Church Planting Institute, and working alongside our VLP Philippines Director of Church Planting, Pastor Gil Fernandez.

Brother Mike and Sandy were married in December of 1974 and have two sons, Mike, who lives in Lynchburg, VA and Todd, who resides in Columbia, SC.  Mike likes to preach and teach the Word of God and enjoys jogging and basketball.
